A Peaceful Home
By Shadow's Mirror

Odion opened the front door of the apartment that he shared with Isis, Malik and Marik and smiled slightly. It was good to be home.

He was currently working at the museum, acting as a guide for the exhibitions. Between children wriggling under rope barriers into exhibits, a little old lady armed with an umbrella that had constantly poked him in places he hadn't wanted to be poked in and a honeymoon couple he had lost every time the tour passed somewhere dark and private, it had been a long day.

It was wonderful to come home to the nice, peaceful home that he shared with his loving family.

Odion was just taking off his shoes when a series of loud crashes come from further in the house, followed by Isis's calm voice. "Marik, kindly remove that alligator before I turn it into a handbag and you and Malik into a pair of shoes to match it."

There was a pause and then Marik's curious voice could be heard. "My light... Can Sister Isis really turn us into a pair of matching shoes?"

"Do you really want to know the answer to that?" Malik sounded rather worried.

"Um... can I think about it?"

"You have until the count of five to get that creature out of here."

Isis still sounded calm. A little too calm. Odion shuddered.

"I'll take that as a 'no'. Here Snookums! Good Snookums! Sorry, I have to take you back. Don't worry, I'm sure the zookeepers will be happy to see you. They were waving so much when I took you that they obviously missed you already."

Marik sounded cheerful. A little too cheerful. Odion sighed and put his house slippers on, then headed for the kitchen as he mentally ran through the possibilities for dinner.

It was no accident that the meal he served up to his family that night consisted of nothing with even the slightest trace of sugar in it.
